Extract audio from your videos

from the official website.

Extracted audio can be used separately from the original video for various purposes: creating podcasts, radio jingles, ringtones, background music for presentations or other videos, and more. Sometimes, the audio in a video may not meet desired quality standards. Extracting it and re-encoding can help improve overall sound quality by removing unwanted noise or applying equalization and compression settings tailored to the specific audio content. Separating audio from video allows for easier editing and manipulation of the soundtrack, such as removing unwanted parts or adding special effects like reverb, echo, or volume adjustments.

In Movavi Video Editor, extracting an audio track from a video file is a straightforward process. To initiate this, navigate to the File Import tab and select Add Files or drag and drop your chosen video into the panel. Once imported, it will automatically be added to the Timeline.

If you want to isolate specific sections of audio rather than the entire track: Position the marker at the start of the desired segment, press the Scissors tool icon in the toolbar, thereby dividing the original clip into two separate parts. Repeat this action by positioning the marker at the end of your preferred segment and pressing the Scissors tool once more. The chosen segment will now be a separate clip on the Timeline. To remove any unwanted elements, highlight the superfluous segments and press the trash can icon on the toolbar.

Audio that is linked to a video file appears below it on the video track. To detach the audio from its parent video, simply drag and drop the corresponding audio onto the dedicated audio track. If the associated video clip is no longer necessary, you may delete it with ease. Now, feel free to edit the extracted audio clip independently.

Saving an extracted audio clip for future use is possible through the Export feature. Click the Export button beneath the video player. Within the subsequent Export Settings window, locate and click on the Audio File icon to configure your export preferences. Choose a format for the audio file. Next, you can find the default save location in the "Save to" field. Press the Browse button if you want to choose an alternative folder. After that, click the Start button. This will export your clip into a standalone audio file.
