Add transitions to your videos to create a smooth flow between different clips

from the official website.

Adding transitions to videos is an essential aspect of video editing that helps create a smooth flow between different clips, enhance the storytelling, and make your videos more visually appealing. Transitions are visual effects or animation sequences that bridge the gap between two scenes, making the change from one shot to another look intentional and engaging.

To add a transition into your project in Movavi Video Editor, follow these steps:

Click the Transitions icon in the left sidebar to access an extensive collection of available options. You can preview each type of transition within the player.

Once you've chosen a suitable style, position the playhead between the two clips on the Timeline, then drag and drop the selected transition effect onto the cut line or split edit point that separates the clips. For future reference, you can press the heart icon to save it as a favorite.

A transition icon will now appear between your chosen clips.

To customize the look of your transitions, click the Transition wizard button to open an additional window. Here you can explore various styles and adjust the transition length by entering the desired duration in seconds:milliseconds format. Should you wish for uniformity across all transitions within your project, enable the Apply to all clips option.

Additionally, you can modify the photo clip duration using the same process, setting it according to the specified seconds:milliseconds format. Click Apply to all clips to ensure uniformity in photo clip length across your entire project.

Apply the settings to the selected transitions by clicking on the Apply to selected option.

For more detailed customization, double-click a transition icon on the Timeline to open its Properties window. Here you can configure filling options:

Trimmed content: If a clip has been trimmed, the trimmed segments will be displayed during the transition. In cases where a clip remains untrimmed, a static freeze frame is shown.
Freeze frame: A static frame is shown throughout the entire duration of the transition.
Slow motion: The section of the video overlapped by the transition is expanded to span the full transition length.

To remove a specific transition, right-click its icon on the Timeline and choose Remove Transition from the context menu. For eliminating all transitions in your project, simply select Remove All Transitions.
